Why does wilderness matter to you?

I live in an environment shaped by extraction. Each morning, I wake up to breathe toxic air filled with hazardous emissions. I drink water that is chemically contaminated and polluted. The land, once fertile for farming, is now unproductive due to the contaminants released during extraction activities. I seek medicinal refuge in the wilderness to connect with my ancestors and their stories, helping me to identify who I am.
