Why does wilderness matter to you?
As our world becomes more technically dominated, and the 'noise' of everyday life increases, I am more and more grateful to live adjacent to the White Mountain Wilderness in New Mexico. Other once-peaceful areas nearby continue to expand activities like biking and disc golf. But the Wilderness remains a sanctuary for mind, body and spirit -- wholly devoid of contemporary distractions and chaos. I would not want to live without the Wilderness.
Why does wilderness matter to your community?
Because our part of New Mexico is so close to Texas, each year more and more Texans come to 'regenerate' in our Wildernesses. Though a huge state, Texas has relatively little public land. We hear appreciation for the opportunity for Texans to enjoy our Wildernesses.
What are your hopes for the future of wilderness?
I pray that our Wildernesses be maintained and expanded. They are a valuable resource to wildlife and humans seeking Nature as it was intended to be.
